New Castle, PA
Region: Pittsburgh & Its Countryside
Located in Lawrence County, New Castle is affectionately known as the “Fireworks Capital of America,” as home to two local fireworks companies of international stature, S.Vitale Pyrotechnic Industries, Inc. (Pyrotecnico) and Zambelli Internationale in the early 1900s. The town still celebrates this distinction with a massive July 4 festival each. New Castle legend and former theme park Cascade Park attracts visitors every year for its many festivals, including the popular “Back to the 50’s” car show. New Castle is also home to beautiful and historic architecture. The Cathedral was brought to life by Illustrious Brother John S. Wallace as a Masonic Temple large enough for all Masonic groups to meet. Perfectly overlooking downtown, it still stands today as a structure of great historical and architectural significance to all who visit.
