Warminster, PA
Region: Philadelphia & The Countryside
Founded in 1703, Warminster is known to gardeners everywhere as the home of the Burpee Seed Company. Since 1876, this company has delighted green thumbs with its seeds and glossy catalogs that promise hours of happy toiling for simple rewards. Warminster was primarily an agricultural area, so it is not surprising that Burpee grew in this spot. Pearl S. Buck made her home here. And nearby, west of Doylestown, is where Washington crossed the Delaware River in 1776.
