Waynesboro, PA
Region: Dutch Country Roads
First settled in the 1750s, the crossroads town of Waynesboro was originally a major stop between Baltimore and Pittsburgh. The Industrial Revolution brought rapid growth. Tool and machine makers in particular put Waynesboro on the map, and railroad resorts and stately homes followed soon after. A tour of the town today reveals a charming trend — younger generations have rediscovered the grand old homes and are restoring them to their former glory. Get to know old Waynesboro by touring the Industrial Heritage Museum and the Historical Society. Then check out the modern town's restaurants, B&Bs, golf courses, and antique shops.
