Celebrate Elfreth’s Alley Day: A Neighborhood Fete! On June 7, 2025, the Elfreth’s Alley Association will hold its annual neighborhood celebration, Elfreth's Alley Day: A Neighborhood Fete. This event, which dates back to 1934 (90 years!), is when residents of Elfreth’s Alley open their doors to allow visitors a glimpse of 21st century life in these 18th- and 19th-century houses.

Good Samaritan Lodge No. 336 will be hosting the 5th Civil War Dinner at its lodge on Lincoln Square in Gettysburg, PA. This is a popular event, so tickets sell out quickly. We provide first hand account presentations from our Civil War guests who will be in a period attire. The presentations will begin at 6:00 and dinner will be served at 6:30. Dessert and additional presentations will follow. Dinner will be prepared by our chef, from a Civil War era cookbook. The menu is in the planning stages, but we are sure to have hot mulled cider and of course traditional hard tack, if you dare.

Join us for a talk by Jeffrey Ricketts about Mullen’s Folly, a log house located in northeastern Cecil County, Maryland. It was built possibly before 1789. It operated as a general store from 1789-1823 servicing the surrounding community with a wide variety of goods sourced in Philadelphia and Wilmington. After 1823, the building was converted into a house. From 1859-2022 the house was owned by four generations of the Berriker-FitzGerald family until it was sold to Jeffrey Ricketts.

New Jersey based historical musicians, The Ministers of Apollo, will play 19th-century music in Cliveden's Parlor on Saturday, May 31st, 12pm to 4pm. Tour the first floor of the house and hear a song or two during your visit. The program is free. Music in the Parlor is generously supported by The Haley Foundation.

Celebrate Mother’s Day with an afternoon tea at the museum! Held inside the Dewees Tavern, home to our Center for Pennsylvania German Studies, guests will enjoy a fabulous tea from Catering by Brenda Carter, including tea sandwiches, scones, and sweets. Enjoy your tea while sitting among beautiful displays of antique furniture and folk art as one of our docents provides more information about the objects on view. Seating is family-style at tables of up to eight guests. You won’t want to miss this unique experience!

Historic Rock Ford welcomes Paul Trainor as he presents “18th Century Law.” This lecture and show-and-tell style presentation will discuss 18th Century Pennsylvania Law and include original and reproduction period law books and legal documents. This lecture is part of our 2025 Lecture Series and will be held in the Langmuir Education Room located on the first floor of the Rock Ford Barn. Paul Trainor is a college professor of business and paralegal studies, a retired lawyer, a researcher and a living history presenter on many 18th Century topics.
