The 8 Seconds Rodeo returns for its third and most electrifying year, making its Philadelphia debut on October 11th! This year’s rodeo will feature an intense lineup of events, including Bull Riding, Bareback Bronco Riding, Barrel Racing, and Mutton Bustin’, with top Black rodeo athletes from around the country competing for $60,000 in prize money.

This exciting new experience will feature the same level of fun and excitement that fans have come to expect, but with an added fiery twist. Join Museum Educators and other community partners as we celebrate Christmas and other winter cultural holidays. Families can visit and have their pictures taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus. As they wait in line and explore The Museum, children will receive crafts to take home and coupons and snacks provided by our sponsors. Also, during this event, community groups participating in our Yuletide Around the World tree display exhibit will be present to talk about unique holiday traditions from across the globe. Registrations for this event will open in October.

The show plunges the audience into the hidden universe alive at our feet; an ecosystem teeming with life and unseen beings - insects that work, eat, crawl, flutter, feast, fight and court among each other in an ongoing explosion of energy and movement.

Celebrate Independence Day at The Neag Planetarium with our annual Sensory Fireworks! This event is a fantastic opportunity to experience fireworks and other fun visuals in a setting without large crowds and loud sounds. Children can also make fun Fourth of July crafts with our Museum Educators. Due to popular demand, we have added an extra evening of shows! Reserve your spots early, as these shows sell out fast. Our Friday event will include a third showing at 7:30 pm. Registrations for this event will open in May. To guarantee your spot for this event, registrations are required.

Lantern Tours – June 26, July 24, August 14. Tour the caverns by flickering lantern light, like an early explorer! Join us for our Summer Family Fun Nights! Bring the whole family for an educational and fun night of learning while enjoying these interactive tours. Panning for gems and a craft for the kids are included during each of these special evenings. Advance ticket purchase is required prior to the tour date. Ticket sales close at 5:00 PM the day prior to tour date. (Recommended ages 4+)
