First staged in 1936 by the Moscow Philharmonic as a symphony to introduce children to the instruments of the orchestra, today Peter and the Wolf is beloved by children and adults the world over. This classic ballet – interpreted and choreographed by the Academy’s Creative Director Davit Karapetyan – reminds us that to be a hero, one must take risks.
For this special performance, the Academy is uniting again with the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra.

On Saturday, July 19, 7:30 PM at Market Square Presbyterian Church, MSC Summermusic 2025 will conclude with Shostakovich’s searingly dramatic Piano Trio No. 2, written in the darkest days of the WWII after a loss of his closest friend, and Beethoven’s celebrated “Archduke” Trio, a testament to composer’s spiritual strength in the face of hearing loss and disheartening historical backdrop of Napoleonic wars.
On Wednesday, July 16, 7:30 PM at Market Square Presbyterian Church, MSC Summermusic 2025 will continue with Schubert’s uplifting Trout Quintet inspired by the young composer’s first ever summer in the countryside with close friends, and Dvořák’s distinctly Czech String Quintet Op.
On Sunday, July 13, 4 PM at Market Square Presbyterian Church, MSC Summermusic 2025 will open with two deeply personal works inspired by love and loss. Max Bruch’s collection of miniatures dedicated to his son, and an emotionally charged Horn Trio by Brahms created shortly after the loss of his mother, show how composers’ closest relationships inspire some of the most original, richly nuanced and moving masterpieces.

Balderdash defintion: a muddled mixture of liquors.
This year's Balderdash is a return of the tradional homebrew festival combined with our annual Cherry Bounce Festival. This merger, though muddled, provides the visitor an entertaining opportunity to sample homebrews created by amateur and aspiring brewers and unique variations of historic cherry bounce created by local cherry bounce fans.
