The Lost World of Dragons
Temporary exhibit at Reading Public Museum on exhibit from May 25-September 8, 2024. The exhibition will feature a unique, custom, and interactive experience for guests of all ages. Visitors will be immersed in the stories and mythology of dragons — exploring the lore and history of dragons in nearly every region and culture from Norway to ancient China. Hands-on displays and photo opportunities deeply engage visitors in the amazing world of dragons. The Lost World of Dragons celebrates and explores both the history of and science behind how the dragon myth has grown through ages and cultures.

Scales of Gold, Wings of Jade: The Dragon in Art
Celebrating the Year of the Dragon (2024), this focus exhibition in the first-floor Meinig Family Gallery explores the theme of the dragon in art from the East to the West. Drawn from The Museum’s rich permanent collection, the show complements The Lost World of Dragons which runs concurrently. More than twenty works that enlist dragon imagery including painting, ceramics, ivory, sculpture, etchings, engravings, posters, and paintings from the seventeenth through the twentieth century will be on view.

The Amazing Castle
Temporary children's exhibition at the Reading Public Museum on display May 18 - September 8, 2024. Visitors to The Amazing Castle, a bilingual hands-on exhibit, are transported to a magical place and time. Inside the castle’s stone walls lies a happy and peaceful little community where every citizen has a special job to do. As visitors explore The Amazing Castle and its eight themed areas, they will encounter graphic panels introducing seven citizens who are part of the castle community. As they move through the castle, visitors can playfully explore ideas related to community life.
