Eight hundred forty-two of the most beautiful acres in Susquehanna County make up Salt Springs Park. Just under half of this land is a state park the Friends of Salt Springs manage for the Commonwealth, and the remaining acres are owned by the Friends’ group and open to the public. Salt Springs offers the peace and beauty of streams and woodlands, a gorge with three tumbling waterfalls, 15 miles of trails, historic farm buildings, camping cottages, rustic tent camping, picnic grounds, and a variety of programs and events. The pavilion has 10 picnic tables, electricity, numerous outlets, and three pedestal grills and can be reserved for private parties. There are 14 rustic campsites, some walk-in and others accommodate campers but without hookups. There are 3 rustic cottages, with electricity but no heat or running water. A restroom is nearby. Salt Springs is open to the public year-round, without charge, from sunrise to sunset.
