When winter arrives, Pennsylvanians hit the slopes at one of the 21 ski resorts in the state. But did you know that six of those resorts have adaptive skiing programs? These programs provide people with disabilities and/or special needs the opportunity to experience a variety of snow sports. Here are a few adaptive skiing destinations in PA to empower everyone to hit the slopes this season.
1. Camelback Resort

Partnering with the Pennsylvania Center for Adapted Sports, Camelback Resort offers a full-service adaptive skiing and snowboarding program. Skiing and snowboarding lessons are available on weekends by appointment for people with disabilities of all skill levels and abilities, ages five and up. Using state-of-the-art equipment, Camelback makes each lesson the best it can be for everyone to have safe fun on the slopes.
2. Whitetail Resort
Mercersburg
All can celebrate the ski-son at Whitetail Resort with their skiing and snowboarding lessons for individuals with special needs. Through a partnership with Two Top Mountain Adaptive Sports Foundation, one of the nation’s newest adaptive sports programs, their Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) Certified instructors and staff of trained volunteers give individuals the confidence to tackle the slopes.
3. Liberty Mountain Resort
Fairfield
Working with Blue Ridge Adaptive Snow Sports Inc. (BRASS), Liberty Mountain Resort offers an array of ski and snowboard instruction for people with disabilities to suit everyone’s ski style. Program offerings include visually impaired/CI, stand-up skiing, sit-down skiing with the use of special equipment, and adaptive snowboarding. Everyone can enjoy the PA great outdoors this winter with these inclusive opportunities.
4. Jack Frost Big Boulder
White Haven
Everyone deserves the chance to enjoy PA snow days, and Jack Frost Big Boulder agrees by offering an adaptive program so all visitors can glide along the trails of Jack Frost and Big Boulder. This program provides individuals with disabilities and/or special needs of all ski levels the opportunity to experience a variety of snow sports.
