Roadside Farm Stands for Your Fall Foliage Road Trip

With crisp air and amber leaves in the forecast, fall foliage season is swiftly approaching. There’s no better way to celebrate the change in season than a road trip along PA’s super-scenic roads with some tasty stops along the way. So, hop on your hot ride and cruise your way through #FallInPA to these awesome roadside farm stands.

1. Risser-Marvel Farm Market & Corn Maze

Annville

Located on Route 322 (aka, Horseshoe Pike), the Risser-Marvel Farm Market & Corn Maze is home to more than 40 acres of locally grown fruit and vegetables. Here you’ll find tasty treats throughout the farm stand that’s also stocked with a variety of jarred goods, including preserves and honey, as well as all sorts of yummy baked goods including 11 (yes, 11!) assorted flavors of whoopee pies!

2. Dilly’s Corner at Centre Bridge

New Hope

Right at the junction of Routes 32 and 263 in the heart of Bucks County lies Dilly's Corner. Plan to arrive hungry to enjoy your fill of towering burgers, hot dogs, fries, and other classic American eats at this old-fashioned window-serve, fast-food joint. Seeking something sweet? Enjoy one of their many flavors of delicious soft serve ice cream and creamy milkshakes on their patio!

3. Smittie’s Pretzels

Cruising your way along Route 74 in northern York County? A stop at 87 years-young Smittie's Pretzel for hot, soft, freshly baked, hand-rolled pretzels – all baked in an authentic, 200-year-old, stone hearth oven – should definitely be on your must-visit list. After picking up your salty snack, wend your way to Gifford Pinchot State Park or Roundtop Mountain Resort for breathtaking fall foliage views.

4. Al’s Melons

Exploring the backroads of Crawford County? Get your pumpkin fix at Al's Melons Farmhouse & Greenhouse at the junction of historic U.S. Route 6 and Route 618. Take an adventurous stroll through their corn maze while sipping on some locally made apple cider and hopping on one of their wagon rides before grabbing some fresh produced and picking the perfect pumpkin to take home.

5. Pletcher’s Farm Market

Located along State Road 4001 in the scenic Laurel Highlands, Pletcher's Farm Market is a must-visit for farm fresh produce, flowers, locally made goods, fall mums, and of course, pumpkins! For a picture-perfect moment, check out the giant pumpkin display onsite each fall.

6. Mountain View Acres Plants & Produce

Continuing your Laurel Highland fall foliage tour, a short detour off Route 31 and 711 takes you to Mountain View Acres Plants & Produce. This charming family-owned business specializes in locally grown, healthy, life-sustaining plants and produce at an affordable cost, and all in an environmentally friendly fashion!

7. Schramm Farms & Orchards

Nestled in the foothills of the Laurel Highlands, you’ll find Schramm Farms & Orchards. Having provided farm-fresh produce to the greater Pittsburgh area for more than 150 years, it is clear they know a thing or two about what it takes to grow great fruits and veggies. Bonus: They even operate a Wine Shop, fully stocked with Arrowhead Wine Cellars’ award-winning wines, and Grandma’s Country Oven Bake Shoppe featuring amazing baked goodies made from scratch with the freshest of fresh ingredients!

8. Countryside Road-Stand

Take a scenic drive through miles of beautiful farmland vistas in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country to find the Countryside Road-Stand. Just off a stretch of Route 772 and Newport Road, you’ll find wonderful homemade crafts and food items, including homemade noodles and apple butter, at this Amish-owned and operated store. Be sure to pick up some of their delicious handmade pretzels that pair perfectly with their homemade birch and root beers!

9. Ard’s Farm Market

Lewisburg

About halfway between Lewisburg and Mifflinburg along Route 45, you’ll find plenty of farm-fresh deliciousness at Ard's Farm Market and Banty Rooster Restaurant. Enjoy a wonderful farm-to-table lunch, dinner, or Sunday brunch prepared with produce fresh from the farm; then amble through their farm market where you’ll find an extensive selection of farm-picked, orchard-grown, and vine-ripened goodness. The fall fun continues with a corn maze and hayrides to their pumpkin patch!

10. Lewisburg Farmer’s Market

Lewisburg

Lying right on the outskirts of Lewisburg is the Lewisburg Farmers Market. This popular, longstanding market in the Susquehanna River Valley has more than 100 local vendors offering all sorts of tasty takeaways, ranging from farm-fresh produce, meat, and dairy items to home-baked goods, coffees, and even a selection of handpicked flowers – perfect for your fall decorating!

11. Dries Orchard

Sunbury, with stands in Lewisburg, Milton, and Selinsgrove

Found at the junction of Routes 4019 and 4022, the family owned and operated Dries Orchards has been serving up a wide variety of fresh fruits for more than 65 years. Stop in their orchard shop for fresh produce along with jams, teas, honey, cider, baked goods, and candies. Don’t leave without some of their homemade apple cider – made fresh at the orchard from apples pressed using the old plate method for the best and freshest cider you’ll find anywhere!

12. Jack Bell’s Meat & Poultry

Kane

No need to worry about dinner during a scenic drive of Route 6 in northcentral PA! Drop into Jack Bell’s Meat & Poultry to pick up just about everything you need to enjoy a great meal when you get home! They offer an amazing assortment of sausages, fresh-cut meats, cheeses, dips, canned goods, and specialty items you simply can’t find anywhere else. Pick up an assortment of their “Grillers” – they did all the prep work; all you need to do is put them on the grill!

13. Willauer Farm

Quakertown

Along scenic roadways deep in the heart of Bucks County farming country, a quick detour to John Fries Highways leads to the Willauer Farm where the Willauer family has been a farming staple for four generations. They are best known among the locals for producing amazing fresh, homegrown, raw honey for purchase from their roadside wagon. Be sure to stop by their full-size storefront to shop a large selection of Black Angus beef.

14. Duda’s Farm Market

Brownsville with farm stands in Waynesburg, West Mifflin, Uniontown, Washington, Belle Vernon, Masontown, and Chalk Hill

Be sure to swing by Duda’s Farm Market when tooling along the scenic farmland roads of southwestern PA. Located along Creek Road just off Route 166, their small roadside stand has grown to become a free-standing marketplace selling all sorts of fresh fruits, herbs, and veggies, including an extensive selection of hot to mild peppers. While all their produce is more than worth a stop, their “Super Sweet Corn” will have you visiting time and again!
