The Square is located in Carlisle's historic district. Buildings on the Square include the First Presbyterian Church where President George Washington worshiped in 1794; Saint John's Episcopal Church, Civil War Monument, and the 1846 Court House which shows damage on the pillars and windowsill caused by Confederate artillery fire on July 1, 1863.
