The Lycoming Tri-County NAACP is excited to announce that their organization along with other community organizations in the region will be celebrating Juneteenth in Williamsport again this year on Saturday, June 18, at Brandon Park. Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery and is a day of joy, celebration, and a recommitment to the values of freedom and building a good community for all. This year’s event theme is Juneteenth: Living Free & Healthy. The event will address many dimensions of health: physical, mental, and financial. These topics are critical for the African American community and certainly also of interest to all. We invite people of all backgrounds to come to Brandon Park to celebrate with us. The day will start with a Freedom Prayer Vigil and Walk starting at the Freedom Road Cemetery at 9:30am. Events on the stage at the park will run from noon to 4pm. We will celebrate with physical fitness intro sessions, yoga, meditation, drumming, food, music, dance, the spoken word, and more. We invite you to come to Brandon Park to celebrate with us. This is an opportunity to visibly show your support for our active African American community here in central Pennsylvania. When we come together to support one another our communities are stronger and we can feel great pride in what this country stands for.
