Prost! Break free from the Covid craziness with Rotary of Westmoreland’s (ROW) Battle of the Beers Oktoberfest: a fundraiser to fight human trafficking in Western PA, on Saturday, October 2, 2021. Local craft brewers will compete for the title of "Tasters' Choice" and the honor of being featured on tap at Marino's in Greensburg. Enjoy an afternoon sampling craft beers, voting for your favorites, listening to live/local musicians, savoring Oktoberfest-inspired cuisine or entering the cornhole tournament- all while supporting the hard work of Irwin-based non-profit Rooted Outreach, which combats human trafficking, sexual assault/abuse and homelessness in our area. Rooted Outreach supports local victims of human trafficking, sexual assault and abuse with education, awareness and other services, but the pandemic has hindered their progress. This event infuses an element of fun into awareness of very serious issues. Of concern, another person is sold into human trafficking every 30 seconds; and once forced into this highly dangerous regime, victims have only a 1-2% chance of ever being rescued. The proceeds will be donated to Rooted Outreach, so they can continue their mission of supporting victims and keeping our communities safe and informed through awareness, outreach and education.
