Ancient Greek and Roman Cultures were not only aware of Gay and Transgender identities, but they gave us some of the first religion based stories that described, defined, and celebrated them! Instructor Liz Bradbury, MFA will talk about some of the key Queer legends in ancient mythology, and about the art though the ages that these Gods and Demigods inspired. This class will also include a presentation on the Ancient Greek poet Sappho, by Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center Training Institute Intern Léon Hyacinthus, who is a Classical Studies major. And there will be great themed snacks! Sit back, prepare to laugh, view slides, listen, learn about and discuss the lives and work of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer artists and other key figures in history. Consider the LGBTQ imagery of mainstream artists in various periods of history. And after the class there is also a social opportunity, with themed snacks, to discuss interesting things with old friends, or meet new ones in this exciting free 4 session class at the LGBT Community Center.
