My Dog is a Show Off!

Second Chance Animal Sanctuaries invites you and your best friend to show off! The 2nd annual Show fundraiser celebrates dogs of all breeds/mixes, sizes, ages and abilities. It’s scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 21, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Grand Canyon Veterinary Clinic’s grounds at 11765 Route 6, Wellsboro (across from Weis). All event proceeds benefit local dogs and cats helped by Second Chance. The Show Off is centered around a series of competitions for dogs and their owners, with categories such as “Tiny Show-Offs,” “Still-Got-It-Seniors,” “Fetch-Crazed,” and “Who You Calling Dog?” Four categories with three to five events each are held back-to-back throughout the day, culminating with doggie fashion shows. Each event will be individually judged with prizes for the winner. Registration is $20 before Sept. 1 or $25 after for a dog’s first event. Each additional event is $5, up to four events total per dog. The first 50 entrants receive an event T-shirt and matching dog bandana, both subject to availability. There will be games and activities for kids, vendors, food, contests and raffles, and more. Second Chance is seeking vendors and individuals or groups to offer dog-related demonstrations or entertainment. Nonprofit groups or demonstrators can set up for free; for-profit vendor space is $20.
