Christmas Village in Philadelphia is happy to announce its return to LOVE Park and City Hall to once again transform Center City into a festive winter wonderland. The authentic German-style outdoor Christmas market runs from Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, November 26) through Christmas Eve (Thursday, December 24) with a Preview Weekend on November 21 and 22. Over 60 local and international vendors offering gifts, ornaments, jewelry and arts and crafts among the mix are set up in a socially-distanced way with at least 10’ distance between each shop. This year’s shopping area is set up in a one-way system at the outer limits around LOVE Park for a linear and spaced walking concept allowing proper social distancing. Waiting line areas at locations with the potential for lines make socially distanced waiting possible. Guests can enjoy European foods, sweets and drinks, such as Bratwurst, Schnitzel Tarte Flambé and Lebkuchen (gingerbread) as well as hot Glühwein (mulled wine) and local brews courtesy of Bar Hygge/Brewery Techne in a fenced-off and crowd-controlled outdoor food court allowing only a certain amount of guests at a time. This year’s highlights include the festive and well-ventilated Käthe Wohlfahrt tent featuring popular Christmas gifts from Germany, including glass ornaments, music boxes, nutcrackers, Schwibbogen and incense smokers. The tent is crowd-controlled and therefore only allows a limited number of guests at a time. The Christmas Village Carousel and more vendors are extending festivities to the City Hall Courtyard and North Apron. All visitors must wear masks at all times, unless seated in the food court. Guests are advised to keep at least 6’ distance in all directions to fellow shoppers and vendors and to sanitize their hands frequently at one of the installed sanitizing stations throughout the park. Extensive signage guides visitors in the right directions and reminds them to follow all rules. Guests that feel sick or have been in contact with a sick person are required to stay home. With the changes in the overall layout, weekday visits are strongly encouraged to avoid weekend crowds and waiting. Tickets and reservations are not required.
