Route: 6 (portions) Wyoming County, near Tunkhannock
A few seconds into your drive, you'll see why National Geographic called it "one of America's most scenic drives." The picturesque view of the Susquehanna River and the Endless Mountains will leave you breathless. In addition to inviting restaurants and shops, the quaint town of Tunkhannock includes the historic Dietrich Theater, a 1936 movie house that is now a thriving two-screen theater and active cultural center.
You'll love the region's easy access to hiking and biking trails. Even just a leisurely walk through the woods will restore your spirit. When you get hungry, pull out your picnic basket and head for Riverside Park. While the kids enjoy the playground, you can watch birds and bask in the peace and quiet of the Endless Mountains.
Sample some wines and check out the down home atmosphere of the family-owned Bird Song Winery in the scenic Sullivan County countryside just outside the little town of Dushore.

Kayaking Western PA
Submitted By: Jeff & Kym Christy
Last year, at the age of 52, my wife and I, and friends started kayaking the streams, rivers and lakes of Western PA. We came across this old dam on Henry Run while kayaking the Clarion River this past Memorial Day weekend. There are numerous remote, scenic areas that can only be explored from the water, not to mention the relaxation experienced floating down a lazy stream. PA has stunning beauty if we just stop and look around.
Best Memorial Day ever

The weekend prior we did Jim Thorpe, PA, the coolest little town in the state. For Memorial Day we went to where it all began: Philly! The Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, our beloved Phillies and, of course, a "Whiz Wit" at Pat's. The next day was the amazing Art Museum, and, oh yeah, shocking my girlfriend at LOVE Park!
National Road

When we head East for vacation, we always take this old road. The scenery is beautiful, and we like seeing the old highway markers. It's a lot less stressful than the big highways.
