This was a part of the West Branch Division of the Pennsylvania Canal. The canal served as the connection between the Bald Eagle Creek and the West Branch of the Susquehanna River. Constructed in 1834 and in use until the Great Flood of 1889, this section of the canal is a permanent monument to the builders and the commerce of the Canal Era in Pennsylvania. A visit to the Heisey Museum, at 362 East Water Street in Lock Haven, will give you insight to the Canal and the Lumbering Era in Lock Haven.

Millionaires' Row During the Victorian era, lumber barons in Williamsport built their homes along Millionaires' Row. Many of these architectural landmarks have been preserved and are now private homes, offices, restaurants, or bed and breakfast lodgings. The Peter Herdic House, named for one of the most famous lumber barons of the late 1800s, has been renovated into one of the area's finest restaurants and is especially spectacular at the holiday season.
