Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens Something's always blooming at Phipps Conservatory, a 13-room "crystal palace" that is one of the largest and finest Victorian glasshouses in the country. The botanical gardens feature lush tropical plants, palms, orchids, ferns and desert plants, as well as many special flower shows, exhibits and butterflies. Outdoor gardens and collections include the children's Discovery Garden, Japanese Courtyard Garden, bonsai, butterflies, perennials, annuals, herbs and aquatics.

Carnegie Museum Of Art The Scaife Galleries, made possible by a gift of the Scaife Family and Foundation, more than doubled the exhibition space of the Museum of Art. With the support of Sarah Scaife, the museum purchased a number of important works that became the anchor of the collection. Her gifts to the museum included works by Perugino, Frans Hals, Goya, Munch, Gauguin, and leading French Impressionists. Sarah died in 1965. In her memory, her family and the Sarah Scaife Foundation gave the Scaife Gallery to the Carnegie Institute.
