How does a glass of cabernet sound? How about Riesling? You can try both and many others at Presque Isle Wine Cellars, one of the first wineries to open under the Pennsylvania Limited Winery Act. If you're a home winemaker, you're in luck. Presque Isle stocks everything you need to try a little viniculture of your own. While you're in the area, visit the museums or the arboretum, and check out another farm, too.
Hungry? With all this exploring, you're bound to be! Stop by Matthew's Trattoria for nouveau Italian and contemporary American cuisine in a casual metropolitan atmosphere. Great martinis, too! Here's something you definitely don't see every day: a herd of buffalo. Yes, right here in Pennsylvania, you can visit the Wooden Nickel Buffalo Farm, where you can see the majestic bison up close, sample healthful buffalo recipes, and learn about the long relationship between Native Americans and these great animals. Afterward, visit a maple sugar farm (because what goes better with buffalo burgers than oh, never mind). In October, take the kiddies to a pumpkin patch, or visit a farm museum any time.
If you're looking for something else to eat besides buffalo burgers and maple syrup, you're in luck this area has many fine restaurants.
