Route 6: Pennsylvania Route 6 Artisan Trail West

Pack the car, fill up the gas tank, and get ready to explore the art - fine, folk, and everything in between - along one of the nation's first intercontinental highways: Route 6.

Discover the Pennsylvania Wilds region in places like Wellsboro, Galeton, Coudersport, and Kane. Explore Pennsylvania's Great Lakes region in Venango and Meadville. As you drive along the Grand Army of the Republic highway through these historic towns, you'll see how local artisans are inspired by their surroundings and regional materials to create original works that include gourd art, chainsaw carvings, and iron forgings. If you have an extended weekend coming up, we've got a three-day roadtrip for you!

This 200-mile journey is only half of the Route 6 Artisan Trail. So, if you've got more time to spare and a serious need to connect with the Commonwealth, check out the other half at Pennsylvania Route 6 East Artisan Trail and tour the state from stem to stern.
