This weekend, Pennsylvania's official off-road racing team earned four national titles at the USA Cycling Mountain Bike National Championships in Mt. Snow, Vermont.
The weekend's events consisted of a variety of mountain bike disciplines, and the team contested three of them in several categories. Mike Hebe won the 40+ age category in the Super D competition, demonstrating that he possesses legendary bike handling skills in addition to his endurance racing prowess. Meanwhile, Michelle "You Can't" Stopper rode away from all competitors in the expert women's cross country race, gapping her nearest competitor by minutes and setting the fastest expert women's time on the aerobically and technically challenging course. Weston "The Conqueror" Schempf rode at a consistently high level all weekend, winning semi-pro men's cross country and short track races, and making it look so easy. In addition, podium spots were earned by teammates Mike Yozell in expert 35+ cross country, Flyin' Ryan Leech in semi-pro cross country, and Mike Hebe in 40+ cross country.
Each member of the team rides a PA-built Cannondale mountain bike. The visitPA.com Mountain Bike Team promotes eco-tourism in Pennsylvania and donates a portion of race earnings to the Blue Butterfly fund, which provides support to families of children with cancer.
