Searching for the Promised Land? It's approximately 10 miles north of Canadensis in Pike County. Looking for the World's End? That's here, too.
In fact, these are just two of Pennsylvania's 117 state parks that offer a heavenly dose of family camping, swimming, biking, boating, fishing, and hiking.
But that's just the tip of the mountain. Pennsylvania's 4.5 million acres of public lands include the finest woodlands and natural areas in America. Our name itself means "Penn's Woods," and our public estate is just that—often mountainous and filled with a myriad of creatures, plants, and natural wonders.
And you're never more than 15 minutes away from one of our state parks, state forests, or game lands. We invite you to explore all the natural splendor that Pennsylvania has to offer.

I remember as a kid climbing to the summit at Hawk Mountain (near Reading) and gazing across the landscape. I had a dream about that last night and it made me happy to be a PA native.

Ohiopyle State Park
Submitted By: Bobby
Ohiopyle State Park, south of Pittsburgh, is great. You can whitewater raft on the Youghiogheny River, hike the 70 mile Laurel Highlands Trail, or bike the 300 mile Great Allegheny Passage rail trail from Pittsburgh to D.C. Loved the natural water slides in Meadow Run & Cucumber Falls, a beautiful waterfall with ice cold water that feels great after a day of hiking. And Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater, is close by.

The Pocono Mountains are all around us—great hiking, biking, you know, outdoorsy stuff. Just off 407 is Lake Lackawanna. You can fish, swim, picnic. It's beautiful. But my choice would be Lake Wallenpaupack. Best lake in PA, if you ask me.
