The women of Pennsylvania have always been a varied lot---pilots, religious pioneers, healthcare workers, artists, environmental scientists. Over the years, this diverse mix of talents has given rise to a uniquely Pennsylvanian brand of womanhood. Our groundbreaking achievements and creative endeavors have made the state a center of pioneering ideas and tenacious determination. With the strength and stability that the keystone symbol conveys, the women of the Commonwealth have made Pennsylvania a place that stands up under pressure. A softer side, too, is evident in our willingness to welcome and nurture new ideas and people from all around the world.
Although you can find women's heritage activities and attractions all over the Commonwealth, the cities of Pittsburgh and Philadelphia offer a lot of particularly interesting things to see and do. House museums, churches, cultural monuments, and other heritage sites are in close concentration, so you can map out your own women's heritage tour to suit your interests.
Drake Well Museum

The first time I came to Drake Well Museum a buck crossed the road in front of me and an eagle flew overhead in the sunny sky. Oil Creek and the site were beautiful! Historic oil field machinery sang and people were friendly.
My Back Yard

As an artist, I grew up on an old homestead that was first occupied by my great grandparents. My grandmother is 101 now and she still enjoys reminiscing about her life on "The Golden Hill", a place which overlooks 40 miles of picturesque mountains. It is a family tradition, each year when the leaves turn to their brilliant colors we hike to the top of the "Herndon Head".
