Celebrate the 200th Anniversary of the Battle of Lake Erie and the War of 1812
Commemorate the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812 in Erie [1] by visiting the Flagship Niagara [2], a reproduction of Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry’s relief flagship. On September 10, 1813, nine small ships – six of them, including Niagara, constructed in Erie – defeated a British squadron of six vessels in the Battle of Lake Erie. Erie will mark this historic event with year-long educational programs, tours and special events in September 2013.
