Currently under construction/restoration, the homes of Thaddeus Stevens and Lydia Hamilton Smith, a notable Underground Railroad conductor, according to oral tradition, will become a historical museum to tell the stories of these two individuals whose work on the Underground Railroad assisted many Africans. Stevens, an attorney and abolitionist, headed the defense team that successfully represented the men charged with treason after the Christiana Resistance. Smith, Stevens' housekeeper, was a conductor on the Underground Railroad.
