The Northeast Theatre is a fully professional, Equity theatre company in residence at the historic Performance Space at the Hotel Jermyn in the heart of Downtown Scranton. It produces six or seven mainstage plays each season, plus Acting Alone (a festival celebration of the monodrama), The Spruce Street Cabaret (music, magic, and mayhem), New York Music (emerging musicians from New York City), New Plays for a New Century (staged readings of unproduced scripts), and Lackawanna Rails (original plays for the radio). In addition, its educational outreach includes Griffin Conservatory (professional level actor training), The Play's the Thing (student matinees), The Portal Project (an ongoing collaboration with Marywood University), and In Bocca al Lupo (a study abroad program in Italy).
