The Amish Experience Theater is a multi-media theater that is currently showing "Jacob's Choice." This presentation makes use of five screens, a 3-dimensional set, and special effects to follow a young man's decision on whether to become Amish or live in the "outside world." In the story, special effects unique to the theater, such as "Pepper's Ghost," re-create the Anabaptist beginnings of the Amish faith in Europe and the years of martyrdom. A dramatic segment concerns the crossing of the Atlantic Ocean to the port of Philadelphia (with wind and rain in the theater). The story shows how Amish history affects who the Amish are today, through a personal story of a family today that presents the Amish "as people." This is the only "experiential" theater on the East Coast, presenting "400 years of history in 40 minutes of magic." This is an exciting, factual, educational, and entertaining presentation that both adults and children will enjoy.
