Since our founding in 1973, the Mauch Chunk Historical Society has been actively involved in giving our past a future. We preserve and maintain two significant historic buildings in Jim Thorpe: the 1882 Mauch Chunk Opera House and the 1885 Marion Hose Company #1. It is through these venues that we interpret our region's history by using them as a focal point for art and culture in our community. These historic venues are also available for rent to community groups, individuals and organizations.
