The Bishop White House is open by tour only. Free tickets are available on the day of your visit at the Independence Visitor Center located on the corner of 6th and Market Streets. Tours are limited to 10 people, and tickets are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. The tour takes approximately one hour and includes the Todd House. The Rev. Dr. William White, rector of Christ Church and St. Peter's Church and the first Episcopal Bishop of Pennsylvania, lived in this house from the time it was built in 1787 until his death in 1836. White chose its location because it lay midway between the two churches he served. The house has been restored to reflect the lifestyle of upper-class Philadelphians during the late 18th century. Many of the items in the house actually belonged to the Bishop.
