Birthplace and childhood home of biologist, ecologist and "Silent Spring" author. The Rachel Carson Homestead Association was formed in 1975 to preserve and restore this National Register historic site and to offer educational programs which advance Rachel Carson's environmental ethic. In addition to guided tours of the house and grounds, we offer classes for children and adults, school and outreach programs, scout badge programs, public programs and special events. There is a 1/4 mile self-guided interpretive nature trail and a bookstore.
