Pennsylvania's Great Lakes Region

Pennsylvania's Great Lakes Region is a natural haven for people who love the outdoors. Hikers and bikers enjoy exploring the lush forests that stretch for miles and miles. And then, of course, there's the sparkling waters of Lake Erie and the treasures of Presque Isle State Park, a National Natural Landmark with seven miles of sandy surf beaches. Boaters and sailors flock to the lake, and bird-watchers can spend days at the Erie National Wildlife Refuge. Charming Victorian towns, lakeside wineries, maritime museums and monuments, and even a couple of lighthouses make this region a real getaway destination.

I take several trips a year to this area to visit some of Pennsylvania's great vineyards and wineries along the shore of Lake Erie. You can find some wonderful little motels and B&Bs, and we always take a bike ride or hike at Presque Isle State Park. We have found a few favorite restaurants as well, including one at Presque Isle Wine Cellars.
