Dutch Country Roads

Home to Harrisburg, the state capital of Pennsylvania, and Hershey, the chocolate capital of the world, the Dutch Country Roads region is justifiably famous as a destination like no other. Amish farmers toil next to world-class amusement parks as shoppers snap up bargains in our world-famous designer factory outlets. Sophisticated cultural attractions vie for attention with farmers' markets and antiques boutiques, and quant villages line the country roads between thriving small cities. From railroads to coal mine tours, America's oldest brewery to galleries, and battlegrounds to live theater, this region has more than enough sights and activities to keep you busy.

Customize our fully interactive Google map by selecting what you'd like to see. Simply choose an activity, and we'll show you where to go! You can also check out the cities and towns in this region for more travel ideas. Visit www.DutchCountryRoads.com for more information.

Inspiring and delicious
Submitted by: Greg O.
In early September of this year, on the urging of a friend, I set out for a roadtrip on Pennsylvania’s Civil War Trails. For two days, we drove the many miles of PA’s Dutch Country and spent many more hours touring dozens of the PA Civil War towns I barley knew except by name. The towns were all great — charming, filled with exactly the off-the-beaten-path kind of history and experience we had been looking for. I won’t forget the view from Harrisburg’s Civil War Museum, the energy of its Broad Street Market, Chambersburg’s Old Jail, the blood stains from Civil War soldiers in our Gettysburg B&B, the murals in York.... But what I will also never forget was the FOOD. I’ll be honest, knowing we had at least five meals on our itinerary, we didn’t expect gourmet-quality entrees at every turn. I highly recommend it and may just make the trip again for the Alligator dish at Prudhomme’s. Go check it out!
