Great Things to Do in Somerset, PA

Somerset

The only town with an entrance to the Pennsylvania Turnpike, Somerset's location in the Laurel Highlands makes it a popular destination for bikers, hikers, and outdoors enthusiasts of every stripe. The Somerset Historical District reflects a variety of architectural styles. The most significant buildings in the district are the County Courthouse, the Somerset Trust Building, and the First National Bank building.

In addition to five state parks, the Somerset area is home to Fallingwater, Great Allegheny Passage Biking/Hiking Trail, Windber Coal Heritage Center, Mountain Playhouse and three resorts — Seven Springs, Hidden Valley, and Indian Lake.

Great place to enjoy the outdoors

My boyfriend and I went on a camping trip up to the Laurel Highlands. We stayed at Benner’s Meadow Run Campground. This was the perfect place to sit back, build a fire and enjoy. There was plenty to do in the area such as horse back riding and exploring the numerous trails or adventurous activities at Ohiopyle State Park. We made the right choice on picking this location. There were lots of fun things to do and plenty of time to relax
