If everything you know about Allentown is from the Billy Joel song, you're in for a shock. This bustling city on the Lehigh River, founded in 1762, is vibrant and lively — diverse nightlife, fine dining, golf, and other activities abound. From Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom to the Allentown Art Museum and the Symphony Orchestra, there's plenty to see and do here. Even a stroll through the extensive historic district is enough to fill an afternoon.

What a blast in Allentown

The Da Vinci Discovery Center of Science and Technology is in Allentown. You can learn about the weather, try your hand at being a meteorologist, and discover how the human body works. You can play doctor and learn more about each organ. There's a huge variety of bonus activities, too. The last time I went with my family, we caught a demonstration by an area wildlife rescue shelter. We saw hawks up close and personal, as well as a bundle of other furry friends.
