Roebling Inn on the Delaware

155 Scenic Dr., Lackawaxen, PA 18435 GET DIRECTIONS
Local: 570-685-7900

The Lackawaxen Area is a virtual paradise for anyone who enjoys the outdoors and points of historical interest.

Lackawaxen  was founded in 1798 and has quite a history. Paralleling the Lackawaxen River is the "Towpath" road, the route of the old Delaware & Hudson Canal which once carried coal, quarry stone and other goods from Carbondale to New York City. Stonework remnants of the canal can still be seen along the Towpath.

Roebling Bridge--built in 1848 as an aqueduct to carry canal boats over the Delaware, it stands as an engineering landmark. John Roebling designed this wire cable suspension structure and used it as a prototype for his later work -- The Brooklyn Bridge!

The Zane Grey Museum, home of the famous author of many Western novels, is open for tours May-Oct.

Minisink Battleground Park is located on the mountain overlooking Lackawaxen and was the site of a Revolutionary War Battle. Now it is a beautiful place to hike. Pike up a printed trail guide at the Visitor Kiosk.
