Emporium, the county seat, is a borough in Cameron County, 100 miles west-northwest of Williamsport. Early in the twentieth century, it had large powder plants and manufactories of radio tubes, incandescent lamps, paving brick, flour, iron, lumber, sole leather, etc. Take a ride through the remote Pennsylvania Wilds along the scenic 75-mile Bucktail Trail (PA Route 120) as it winds between rugged mountain ridges beside the West Branch Susquehanna River. Named for the famed Civl War-era Bucktail Regiment, volunteers recruited from the skilled woodsmen of this region, the Bucktail Trail follows the much older path that Native Americans called the Sinnemahoning Trail. The Little Museum displays over 15,000 items depicting the history and heritage of Cameron County. Recreation areas include Sinnemahoning State Park and Sizerville State Park.
