The National Historic District in Downtown Bradford showcases the colorful history of Bradford. When settled in 1837 as the small village of "Littleton" lumber was the main industry. By 1854, the village had grown considerably and was renamed Bradford. The discovery of rich oil fields in the late 1800's transformed the town into "The High Grade Oil Metropolis of the World". Today, one can shop a variety of small charming stores along Main Street in Bradford for antiques, handmade chocolates, children's clothing, gifts and collectibles. A store sure to "click" with visitors is the gift shop at the Zippo/Case Visitors Center, the only place in the world that carries the complete line of Zippo lighters and Case knives.
