Named after the American Woodcock that inhabits the area, the Flats have a trail that includes eighteen stops with interpretative guides along two hiking loops, the Woodcock and Bluebird Loops, providing education and observation of the wildlife and habitat in the Allegheny National Forest. Hikers will see old farm fields, orchards, brush piles for cottontails, bluebird boxes, white pines, shrubs, and other places renovated to better suit the wildlife. The Woodcock Trail boasts a panoramic views of an active beaver dam, a hemlock grove and other attractions. A great look into the serenity and beauty of the Allegheny National Forest, the Timberdoodle Flats remain a star attraction for those who love the outdoors.
