The Chuck Keiper Trail, located in Sproul State Forest, is a 52-mile trail that traverses the southern portion of the Fish Dam Wild Area and the Burns Wild Area. The trail is marked with orange blazes. Variety of wildlife such as white-tailed deer, bobcat, black bear and coyote. Common birds seen in spring and summer include Eastern Towhee, Red-eyed Vireo, Black-throated Green Warbler, American Redstart, Ovenbird and Black-and-white Warbler. Location: Travel Route 144 north from I-80 at Snow Shoe through the small town of Moshannon. Follow Route 144 north for about 18 miles. Pass Yost Ridge Road and Fisher Fire Road on left. Continue driving through the burn area. Turn left onto Jews Run Road. Drive one mile and look for a dirt parking lot on the left with Chuck Keiper Trail signs. Park and follow the CKT signs to the north into Fish Dam Wild Area. The trail follows Jews Run Road from the parking area for 100 yards. This is a remote area and a trail map is recommended.
