The Gershman Y is located in the cultural heart of Center City Philadelphia, on what is known as the Avenue of the Arts. It stands proudly among theaters, restaurants and performing arts venues as a visible, tangible symbol of the fact that arts and culture, including Jewish arts and culture, are very much alive and thriving in Philadelphia. The mission of The Gershman Y is to serve as a dynamic regional center for arts and culture, retaining a commitment to Jewish culture and identity while appealing to a diverse audience through wide-ranging programming. This is accomplished through the innovative programs of the Philadelphia Jewish Film Festival, the Borowsky and Open Lens Galleries, the Cultural Arts Programs, and through cooperative ventures with a broad range of community organizations.
