Hidden in the woods surrounding the town of Brookville, Pennsylvania is a story about a man, his triumphs, his hardships, his obsessions, and his deeply felt religious convictions. Many local legends abound about Douglas M. Stahlman and his mysterious carved Bible rocks. The Jefferson County History Center is hosting a free public program about the life of Douglas Stahlman and the Scripture Rocks.
The JCHC will also present information about its new project to develop the Scripture Rocks Heritage Park. When completed later this year, this free public access area will encompass a four acre woodland park which contains 61 rocks inscribed by Stahlman between 1911 and 1913 and Chapel Rock where he lived and penned his journals.
