Alburtis is celebrating its 100 birthday w/ 3 days of historical and cultural activities. Friday offers a cake cutting (6:30 pm) followed by business open houses and Gallery Openings at two local businesses: Old Vic & Folkwerks. Saturday starts with a parade & bike decorating contest(9:30 am); all day long the historical society will show videos, businesses will have open houses, & pedestrians will have the opportunity to go on the self-guided historic walking tour. Community groups will sell food (noon), in preparation for a Geo-caching Competition, a Wooden Frog Race in the creek, a "Fashion through the Ages" show, & the Macungie Band - all on the property of the historic Lockridge Furnace and Park. Sunday will begin with a Religious Service at Lockridge Park (8 am) followed by the May Day Festival (noon) featuring the Lockridge Theatre Group's annual Renaissance-themed performance and crafters/artists. The event will close with the burial of a time capsule (6 pm).
