Hunterstown 1863

Hunterstown was the site of the Battle of Hunterstown, a cavalry engagement that included over 5,000 men and horses, on July 2, 1863, during the Gettysburg Campaign of the American Civil War. While here, be sure to visit the Great Conewago Presbyterian Church and Cemetery, which served as a hospital during the battle. Also visit the town square, the Historic Grass Hotel, the Historic Tate Farm, and the Felty and Gilbert Farms, where much of the fighting occurred.
