845 Park Rd., Elverson, PA 19520 GET DIRECTIONS
Local: 610-582-9660
The Forest is 812 acres located in 3 separate tracts. The Goat Hill Serpentine Barrens is a 602 acre tract located in the southwest corner of Chester County. Little Tinicum Island, about 200 acres, is in the Delaware River estuary. Deer are in a reasonably high population in the Goat Hill Serpentine Barrens. Grouse are found in the Barrens and survive well in this difficult to hunt woodland. Both the Octoraro & the Delaware have varied populations of warm water fish. The Delaware provides fishing for shad and eels as well. Trails within the forest are open to mountain biking and horseback riding. Most trails are kept clear over the summer. Primitive campers spending no more than 1 night at a campsite typically do not need a camping permit, with certain exceptions. Contact the district office to find out which biking trails are better for riding, trail maps, self-guiding brochures and camping permit information.
