Mid State Trail System

PO Box 885, Huntingdon, PA 16652-0885 GET DIRECTIONS
The Mid State Trail System (MST) is a long distance trail and side trails located in the ridge and valley region of central Pennsylvania. The MST reaches its northern limit by joining with the West Rim Trail on Bohen Run north of Blackwell in the north central highlands. It stretches south from there to U.S. 22 between Water Street and Alexandria, Pennsylvania, and then down to the Maryland state line, connecting to the Green Ridge Hiking Trail in MD. The MST is almost entirely on public land. It links or traverses a token roadside rest, two scout camps, three fire towers, three wild areas, four state forests, four state forest picnic areas, eight state parks, and eight natural areas. The hike is a total of 261 miles (420 km). The Mid State Trail Association is currently at work to extend the northern terminus of the trail from the West Rim Trail to the New York line, where it may join the Finger Lake Trail in the future.
