The town of Benezette is renowned statewide for its healthy, ecologically sustainable elk population. This viewing area is one of the most reliable elk viewing sites. From here, a panoramic western vista overlooks open fields, small patches of forest, and former underground and surface mining operations. You're also likely to see a number of open-country bird species in this area. Location: From Penfield travel northeast on PA 255 for 6.5 miles to the intersection with PA 555. Veer east (right) onto PA 555 and drive 9.8 miles to the village of Benezette. In Benezette turn north (left) onto Winslow Hill Road and follow it 2.2 miles to the viewing area on the west (left) side of the road.
