In the month of June when the mountain laurel is in bloom and ferns grow everywhere in the woods, you feel as if you are riding in God's garden! On this trail you can see deer and various bird species like the Baltimore Oriole and the Scarlet Tanager.
The Allegheny Highlands Trail will eventually link the Youghiogheny River Trail with the C & O Canal towpath completing a trail from Pittsburgh to Washington.
