The Philadelphia Museum of Art is among the largest art museums in the United States, showcasing more than 2,000 years of exceptional human creativity in masterpieces of painting, sculpture, works on paper, decorative arts, architectural settings from Europe, Asia, the Americas, and the unfolding art of the present in its many forms. The striking classic building housing more than 200 galleries is a beloved icon standing on a nine-acre site above the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Now joined by the galleries and study centers of the newly-opened Perelman Building in the first step of a major expansion over the next decade, the museum is increasingly enhancing the visitor experience, bringing more of its growing collections before a wider public from the region and around the world, and offers a lively calendar of exhibitions and engaging programs for children and families, lectures, concerts and films.
