Golf & Sports

The first professional football game was played in Pittsburgh in the late 1800s, scoring Pennsylvania a place in sports history. With the Pittsburgh Steelers, Philadelphia Eagles, college and high school teams, the pigskin is at home in PA. Football isn’t the only game in town. PA fans cheer on their other grand-slam teams including the Philadelphia Phillies and Pittsburgh Pirates, plus the many minor league baseball teams across the state.  Not to mention the fact that PA is also home to the Little League World Series each August in Williamsport. Basketball fans can ‘hoop’ it up for the Philadelphia 76ers, Villanova Wildcats, Pittsburgh Panthers, hockey fans can net one with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Philadelphia Flyers, while soccer fans can achieve their GOOOOAALLLLL with the Philadelphia Union, Harrisburg City Islanders, and Pittsburgh Riverhounds.

And golf in PA is anything but par for the course. Combine incredible topography, challenging golf layouts, reasonable prices and a market where 40 percent of the U.S. population lives within 200 miles of the state, and it’s no wonder Pennsylvania ranks eighth among the states for golf.
